Baby alpaca is sourced from high-Andean herds, where sharp temperature shifts create a fibre with exceptional natural performance. “Baby alpaca” refers to fineness—typically under 22.5 microns—not the age of the animal. Its partially hollow core enhances thermal retention, making alpaca naturally warmer and lighter than many other fibres. The long, uniform staple length keeps the fibres aligned and stable, while alpaca’s low, smooth cuticle scales reduce friction, resulting in a soft, breathable yarn with virtually no pilling and excellent long-term resilience.
